Milwaukee weekend

We went to Milwaukee for the weekend to meet some of our friends from optometry school. Our friend Susan and her husband Gabe live there now and our other friends Sarah and Ted drove up from Valpo. We went to the Bastille festival in downtown Milwaukee Saturday night and then to a Brewers game on Sunday. The baseball game was the highlight of the weekend of course, as we got to watch C.C. Sabathia wow his new home crowd with a complete game win and hitting his first home-run in the national league. They won it in the bottom of the ninth on a walk-off sacrifice fly. Also, it was very exciting to see the world famous sausage race again. I've only been to Miller Park one other time and it is quite the spectacle. Here's a little summary: There are 5 sausages/dogs that race; the bratwurst (german), polish sausage, italian sausage, chorizo (mexican), and hot dog (american). They are usually Miller park employees but sometimes famous people or other ballplayers have raced. They race before the bottom of the 6th inning. On Sundays, they do a relay race with mini-sasuages (kids from the crowd). I hope for Nolan one day to be a mini-sausage. For those of you who have never had the opportunity to see the sausage race, I have posted a video of the race below.

Here's Scott focusing intently on the field.

A close-up of the sausages warming up for the race. The Polish sausage won today. He's in the red and blue striped shirt.

Here's us with our friends. That's Sarah and Ted on the left and Susan and Gabe on the right.
