Back to Iceland

Nothing like a 90 degree day to remember how nice and cool it was in Iceland. We got distracted and forgot to finish our Icleand blogging, so here it is. These pictures are in Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland. It's their largest city by far, with about 160,000 people about 60% of the population of the island. Its also very modern. Fun fact: Icleand has the most cell phone users and internet connected users per capita in the world. It sits right on the Atlantic ocean. These pictures were taken from on top of their national cathedral that we visited. It's a very clean and colorful city.

There was a colorful rowhouse section that looked like it could be in San Francisco.

This was the cathedral. We went up to the top there. They were redoing the facade unfortunately, so they had scaffolding up the whole front but it was a really neat building. It was a Lutheran church. That's their national religion. The architect tried to mimic the basalt columns that are common around all the volcanos over there. (An example is in our waterfall picture of the 2 of us in our "about us" section at the right.

This was inside the church. They had a huge organ on the front wall there. They were playing it while we wer there and you couldn't even talk to the person next to you it was so loud.
