We went to see the "Angel tree" just outside of Charleston on John's Island. It's an oak tree estimated to be 1300 to 1500 years old. It is the oldest known tree east of the Mississippi River. It is 65 feet tall and has a trunk diameter of 25.5ft. It's longest limb is 89 ft long. The shade produced from its canopy is 17,000 square feet.
